But I see tons of posts that either say “everything’s broken so nothing is” when usually a handful of things are broken, some things are viable, and then everything else is terrible and not worth using, or they try to claim that the game’s massive balance issues are core to the enjoyment of the game. And I don’t blame IW for the game’s balance, the game was released back when basically no games ever got balance patches. I played that game’s MP a ton and still love it. I can understand the game’s balance problems not personally bothering you. All of the secondary perks besides Uav Jammer, Juggernaut, and Stopping Power are basically troll picks. And the R700 has the worst stats of all the snipers on paper even before you consider its obnoxiously high idle sway that is significantly higher than all other snipers for some reason. The M9 and M1911 are basically strictly worse versions of the USP.

The Skorpion and Uzi are horrid compared to their competition. The G3 and MP44 aren’t in the same stratosphere as the M16 and Ak-47. I feel like 90% of the time people say this they’re trying to justify a poorly balanced game as being fine. As much fun as I've had playing MWR, I keep thinking about how I'd rather be playing the next game.
FRAG 3 PERK MODERN WARFARE CALL OF DUTY 4 LOCKED REDDIT SERIES
But thankfully it seems like the new Modern Warfare is a refinement of what IW made 12 years ago, while also pushing the series into exciting new territory (more realistic feeling gunplay, larger scale battles, etc). Most aspects of CoD4 have aged like a fine wine and for a long time it made me sad that subsequent CoDs did not go in the direction I hoped they would. I missed the more simple/engaging nature of the older titles and never really fell in love with the series again after that. I remember hoping in 2009 that MW2 would take away everything that I didn't like about MW1 and add a lot of awesome stuff - Infinity Ward succeeded in some aspects though that game went too far and ended up being even more unbalanced, leaving me pretty disappointed overall as a fan that started with CoD2. The map design, feel of the weapons, and a more reserved take on perks/killstreaks make the game really fun to this day. Domination on Shipment is an especially trashy experience.īut I will say CoD4 is a flawed masterpiece that imo still has some of the highest highs of the series. I quickly remembered all of the frustrations I had with it back in 2007-2009 (3x nades, noobtubes, OP M16, etc). As much as I wish this one held up perfectly.

So after playing the alpha for the upcoming Modern Warfare reboot, I decided to try CoD4 again since it was my favorite one and I need something to hold me over until the new game comes out. MWR feels faithful enough that I'm not gonna go over what makes it different - this is more of a short essay about what the original elements of the game feel like in 2019. The version I'm looking at is MW Remastered on the ps4.
